Flat Close After a Strong Thursday Rally

Benchmark indices traded in a narrow range today, reflecting signs of consolidation after Thursday’s sharp gains.

  • The Nifty 50 opened flat and hovered within a tight range, eventually closing just above the 25,000 mark at 25,019.80, down 42.30 points or 17 basis points.

  • The Sensex mirrored this trend, slipping 200.15 points or 24 basis points, to settle at 82,330.59.

Broader Markets Outperform

While the large-cap indices remained muted, broader markets outshone:

  • BSE Midcap Index gained 85 basis points.

  • The Nifty Small Cap 100 posted a robust gain of 1.18%, reflecting continued investor interest and a clear risk-on sentiment.

Sectoral Snapshot

  • Realty stocks led the sectoral rally with a gain of 1.8%.

  • Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) followed with an increase of 1.6%.

On the downside, Information Technology (IT) stocks came under selling pressure and closed lower.

Volatility Dips Further

Market volatility saw another drop today:

  • The India VIX fell by 2.5%, settling around 16.48.
