Indian equities ended higher with Nifty near 24,850 and Sensex up 715 points. Positive sectoral performance led by private banks, IT, pharma, and media. RBI’s policy measures supported markets, while Tata Motors emerged as a top performer.

Indian equities ended the day on a strong note, with the Nifty closing near 24,850, as markets digested the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) decision to keep the repo rate unchanged at 5.5%.

Sentiment received an additional boost from the RBI’s proposals on capital market lending and banking operations. Key measures outlined by the central bank included:

Expansion of banks’ capital market lending scope

Greater operational flexibility for borrowers

Removal of lending caps against listed securities

At the close, the Sensex gained 715 points, or 0.89%, to settle at 80,983, while the Nifty rose 225 points, or 0.92%, to end at 24,836

Sectoral Performance:

Market breadth was largely positive. Private banks, realty, pharma, IT, and media indices advanced between 1% and 4%, while PSU banks ended lower.

In the broader market, the Midcap index climbed 0.9%, and the Small-cap index added 1%.
