Tata Technologies, Exide Industries and TVS Motor touched fresh 52-week highs on August 7 despite weakness in benchmark indices. Company-specific triggers, including Q1 FY27 earnings, new business engagements, lithium-ion expansion and higher vehicle sales, supported the recent rally in these stocks.
The Indian equity benchmark indices witnessed profit booking on Friday, August 7, 2026, with the Nifty slipping below the 24,600 mark and the Sensex declining by more than 350 points. Despite the weakness in the broader market, several stocks moved in the opposite direction and touched fresh 52-week highs. Among them were Tata Technologies, Exide Industries and TVS Motor Company.
Here is what is driving these three stocks to fresh 52-week highs even as the benchmark indices face selling pressure.
Tata Technologies share price jumped more than 4% on Friday to touch a fresh 52-week high, extending the rally from the previous trading session when the stock gained over 6% on robust volumes. With this increase, the stock has risen around 10% in just two trading sessions.
One of the key triggers for the recent move was a Bloomberg report stating that Honda has outsourced the development of a new vehicle programme to Tata Technologies. According to the report, this would be the first time the Japanese automaker has entrusted an Indian engineering services company with the development of an end-to-end vehicle platform as part of efforts to reduce costs.
The rally also comes after Tata Technologies reported Q1 FY27 earnings along with several global engineering deal wins. For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, operating revenue stood at ₹1,664.6 crore, up 33.8% YoY. Services revenue increased 34.6% YoY to ₹1,296.9 crore, while operating EBITDA rose 33.6% YoY to ₹267.4 crore. The EBITDA margin stood at 16.1%, compared with 16% in the previous quarter.
Another development was the company's $100 million strategic partnership with Tenneco. The engagement covers engineering, digital and business-process transformation, with AI and automation being used across the delivery model. Tata Technologies has also secured a multi-year engagement with a leading European luxury automotive OEM, covering engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, and IDT domains.
Exide Industries share price gained nearly 3% on Friday and touched a fresh 52-week high. The stock is up around 35% on a YTD basis and has gained 8.5% in August so far.
The company reported broad-based growth in Q1 FY27, with all major businesses recording double-digit growth. Growth was led by the two-wheeler and four-wheeler OEM segments, home UPS, solar, two-wheeler and four-wheeler replacement batteries, industrial infrastructure excluding telecom, and exports. The export business grew more than 20% YoY after five consecutive quarters of decline.
Attention has also remained on Exide's lithium-ion expansion. Its Bengaluru lithium-ion gigafactory has entered the sampling and customer-validation phase. Equipment across all four production lines has been delivered and installed, while utilities are operational.
During Q1 FY27, the NCM cylindrical line began customer sample deliveries, while the LFP prismatic line started supplying samples for three-wheeler and telecom applications. Customer validation, homologation and OEM qualification are underway. The company has also completed key testing and certification requirements, including BIS registrations, and expects revenue generation from the plant to begin during FY27.
These business developments, along with the progress at the lithium-ion facility, have coincided with the recent rise in the stock to a fresh 52-week high.
TVS Motor Company, part of TVS VENU and a two- and three-wheeler manufacturer, also touched a fresh 52-week high on Friday. The stock rallied more than 24% during July and has extended its gains by another 2.5% in August so far. Following this rise, the company's market capitalisation has crossed the ₹2 lakh crore mark.
The stock has remained in focus after the company launched its premium electric scooter, the TVS iQube, in Kenya, marking its first entry into the African market.
Earlier this month, TVS Motor reported its highest-ever monthly sales of 6.30 lakh units in July 2026. The company also reported a 38% YoY increase in revenue for Q1 FY27 and recorded its highest EBITDA, which grew 41% YoY.
While the benchmark indices are facing profit booking, Tata Technologies, Exide Industries and TVS Motor Company have moved to fresh 52-week highs on the back of company-specific developments. Tata Technologies has been supported by engineering engagements and Q1 FY27 performance, and Exide Industries by growth across its existing businesses and progress at its lithium-ion gigafactory, while TVS Motor's recent move has coincided with higher sales, Q1 FY27 growth and its expansion into the Kenyan electric scooter market.
