The S&P 500 closed lower after earnings from Nvidia and Salesforce failed to reignite broader market momentum.

S&P 500 fell 0.54% to 6,908.86

NASDAQ Composite declined 1.18% to 22,878.38

Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 17.05 points (0.03%) to 49,499.20

Despite posting a strong fourth-quarter earnings and revenue beat, Nvidia shares dropped over 5%, marking their worst session since April.

Investors rotated toward cyclical sectors, with financials and industrials outperforming. However, concerns around President Donald Trump’s tariff policies and ongoing U.S.–Iran tensions continued to weigh on sentiment.

Markets are closely watching January’s Producer Price Index (PPI) data, a key measure of wholesale inflation, for further cues on the interest rate trajectory.
