As quoted in the press release of L&T (NSE Exchange Filings), the company has secured an important contract from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for the Mumbai Metro project under package CA298 that involves Line 4 (between Bhakti Park, Wadala and Cadbury Junction) of the Mumbai Metro system.
The project covers electrification works across a distance of 24.72 KM on line 4 corridor with 22 elevated stations being added to support the growing urban transport needs of Mumbai, as part of the overall development of the city.
L&T has received a significant order under its transportation infrastructure business.
The project relates to Mumbai Metro Line-4 awarded by MMRDA.
Scope includes electrification, traction systems and SCADA integration.
The order covers 24.72 route km with 22 elevated stations.
This is L&T’s third successive order on the Line-4 and 4A corridor.

L&T has been awarded a contract to carry out the design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing and commissioning of the power supply and traction systems for a total length of 24.72km.
This will involve providing a SCADA system that covers the entire Metro Line-4 and Metro Line-4A, which consists of 32 stations, 2 depots and one Receiving Substation.
Additionally, L&T will perform the electrical and mechanical works, including installing lifts and escalators at 22 elevated stations and 2 depots, as well as performing 5 years of comprehensive maintenance.
All of L&T's activities related to this package will be performed by their in-house Design and Execution Teams. This means that all systems will be delivered together so that they are fully integrated with the civil interface and the station infrastructure.
L&T wins its third straight project on the Mumbai Metro Line-4 and 4A Corridor. Previously, L&T was awarded Package CA-234 (Rolling Stock, CBTC Signalling, Telecommunication, Platform Screen Doors, and Depots Machinery) for the entire corridor.
Additionally, L&T was awarded Package CA-168 (19.5km of Ballastless Track Works) that involves 15 stations. With these two awarded Packages, L&T will be participating on multiple levels in the Corridor for both Track, Systems, Rolling Stock, and now Electrification and Station Operations.
According to L&T Classification of Projects, this order falls into the ‘Significant’ category with a value of ₹1,000 crores to ₹2,500 crores. The organisation utilises this classification to classify orders into Large, Major, Mega and Ultra-Mega.
