As quoted in the press release of Websol Energy System (NSE Exchange Filings), the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to investigate establishing a solar-cell and module manufacturing plant with a capacity of 4 GW in Andhra Pradesh. The company previously announced a target capacity of 5.2 GW, and this facility is a crucial component of that initiative.

The MoU is through the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary to explore a 4 GW capacity in Andhra Pradesh.
Current manufacturing capacity at the West Bengal unit is roughly 1,200 MW (cells) and 550 MW (modules).
The total target capacity is 5.2 GW, of which the 4 GW facility is a major component.

Item | Prior capacity (approx) | Target/MoU capacity |
Solar cells | ~1,200 MW | 4,000 MW (facility under MoU) |
Modules | ~550 MW | 4,000 MW integrated |
Total company target | – | 5,200 MW (5.2 GW) |
Be aware that the relocation to Andhra Pradesh is a strategic location choice for Websol Energy System. The location offers prospects such as access to state-level incentives, availability of infrastructure, and land for a larger facility.
Going from ~1.75 GW (in cells and modules) to 5.2 GW on paper would represent a large jump. But you will need to monitor subsequent investments announcements, deliverable timelines, and actual execution to appreciate what actually materializes. While fully integrated production of both cells and modules may give the company a better hand on costs and the supply chain, it also adds operational complexity.
As of 14 Nov 2025, at 15:30 PM IST, Websol Energy System share price stands at ₹132.10 per share on the BSE, reflecting a decline of approximately 2.36% from its previous close.
