According to a press release uploaded on NSE, Ola Electric Mobility Limited is now India's first EV manufacturer to get government certification for its ferrite motor. The motor is made entirely in-house. It marks a great leap for local clean mobility in India.
This certification was awarded by the Global Automotive Research Center (GARC), Tamil Nadu, after testing specified under the AIS 041 rules framed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Ola had first displayed this ferrite motor at its Sankalp 2025 event. It delivers the same power as motors utilizing rare-earth magnets. The testing involved the 7 kW and 11 kW versions and gave very good and robust results.
This motor enables Ola to enhance quality while simultaneously decreasing the import of rare earth materials. It helps stabilize the supply chain and promotes local manufacturing.
Now, all electric vehicles from Ola Electric will be powered by ferrite motors to make them affordable, efficient, and sustainable for Indian users.
