Synopsis:

Uttarakhand's crackdown on Patanjali and Divya Pharmacy revokes licences for 14 products, including popular ones like Shwasari Gold, Mukta Vati Extra Power, and Patanjali Drishti Eye Drop. Supreme Court scrutiny prompts action against misleading ads. DGGI's probe adds pressure as it issues show-cause notices for alleged GST evasion between 2018 and 2022.

Patanjali News Today

The Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority has taken action against Patanjali Ayurved, suspending the licences of 14 products following recent observations by the Supreme Court regarding misleading advertisements.

This move came after the Supreme Court criticised the Uttarakhand government and licensing authority for alleged collusion with the company and inadequate action against deceptive ads.

The state government submitted the suspension orders as part of an affidavit filed with the Supreme Court, citing Rule 159(1) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act for immediate effect.

Additionally, the state government notified the Union Ayush Ministry about the action taken. The Supreme Court is set to hear the Patanjali case on April 30, with Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna expected to attend.

DGGI’s Probe into Patanjali's GST Compliance

In a separate development, Patanjali Ayurved has received a show cause notice from the Directorate General for GST Intelligence (DGGI) Meerut Zone. The notice alleges non-payment of GST and false claims of Input Tax Credit (ITC) between 2018-2022. This intensifies the pressure on Patanjali.
