As quoted in the press release of Tata Power (NSE Exchange Filings), the company has shared its intention to purchase a 40 percent equity interest in a special purpose vehicle (SPV) that will be co-developed with Druk Green Power Corporation Limited. The Purpose of the SPV is to develop a 1,125 MW Dorjilung Hydro Power Project in Bhutan.
The project has an estimated cost of about ₹13,100 crore, which will help Tata Power continue its clean energy transition. The company will invest the cash amount of approximately ₹1,572 crore by way of one or more tranches, with the first tranche expected to be within six months.
The acquisition would not be classified as a related party transaction, in the beginning, due to the SPV being an associate of Tata Power after the cash investment.
