As quoted in the press release of Tata Motors (NSE Exchange Filings), Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicles Division entered into a major supply contract with an Indonesian state-owned company for the delivery of 70,000 vehicles. The contract includes trucks and pickups for agricultural logistics and rural transportation, which are part of government programs. PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, has signed a contract for 70,000 commercial vehicles that will see their use throughout Indonesia. The contract consists of 35,000 Tata Yodha pick-ups and 35,000 Tata Ultra T.7 trucks supplied to PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, a government-owned enterprise whose mission is to modernise agricultural supply chains and rural logistics networks.
The vehicles will facilitate road transportation from farms to market as well as the distribution of goods throughout rural and semi-urban areas. The vehicle deployment is part of a bigger plan by the Indonesian government to enhance rural connectivity and promote economic mobility through initiatives such as the Koperasi Desa and Kelurahan Merah Putih projects.
Deliveries will be delivered in phases to ensure the equipment fits operationally with agricultural cooperatives throughout the country. The agricultural cooperatives will serve as both distribution points and logistical hubs for the delivery of the vehicles into the local supply chain.
