Established in 1986, Best Eastern Hotels Limited is an Indian hospitality company with one main property: The Usha Ascot, a lodge in Matheran Hill Station, Maharashtra. The business is centred on this asset, which is a full-service lodge with places to stay, eat, and play.
Facilities include a swimming pool with a sunken bar, an open restaurant, and a permit room. The resort also maintains a health club with steam and sauna rooms, a Jacuzzi, and massage facilities. These factors have been part of the core offer of the resort since its inception, laying the foundation for its hospitality approach to a space heavily controlled by accessibility and seasonality.
Recreation is an important aspect of the resort’s eminence. Indoor recreational pursuits consist of some table tennis and carrom, while outdoor recreation consists of some badminton courts, but more limited options are provided through open space amenities. More recently, there has been an air-conditioned pool parlour and small discotheque built, both being incremental upgrades rather than any heavier object expansions. Operationally, the resort is designed for self-sufficiency.
It has its own laundry and kitchen units and keeps a backup generator running at full capacity in case the power goes out, which happens a lot in hill stations. These in-house facilities help ensure that services don't stop and reduce reliance on local sources. The plan lets the business run smoothly even when there aren't many tourists or bad weather, so guests always have the same good time.
The property has fully air-conditioned cabins for guests to stay in, and about 80% of them have views of the pool. Each unit comes with modern conveniences like a TV, a phone line, and hot and cold running water. Each room has the same furniture and a private balcony with a sitting area, which is typical of resorts for short stays for fun.
The provision of culinary services is an important part of the business. The resort's restaurant offers Indian, Chinese, and European cuisine, and there is also a bakery on-site. Food and drink services are managed as an integrated part of the resort, not as a different business line. This makes sure that prices and services are in line with how many people are staying at the resort.
Best Eastern Hotels has always been focused on making the Matheran property work better instead of expanding into new areas or brands. Its operations continue to focus on running the current building efficiently, keeping the guest comforts in good shape, and keeping a small, self-contained service ecosystem.
At the moment, the business is still based in Matheran through The Usha Ascot. Best Eastern Hotels Limited works as a focused, single-location hotel business within this clear scope, providing full resort services under a single management framework.
