BrahMos missiles launched from SU-30 MKI jets played a major role during Operation Sindoor, including strikes on Pakistan’s Nur Khan airbase and Jaish-e-Mohammed’s headquarters. Following these successful operations, the missile system gained renewed attention for its strategic capabilities and deterrent value.
Russia’s offer of full technical support reflects ongoing cooperation under the BrahMos joint venture. The advanced variant under discussion is likely to feature improved accuracy, higher agility, and extended range capabilities. This initiative also strengthens India’s broader drive towards defence indigenisation under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ missions.
The Lucknow facility, along with five other hubs in Uttar Pradesh, is expected to be a central pillar in India’s goal to become a global defence manufacturing hub. The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the complex will support missile integration, materials testing, and aerospace-grade production, making it a multi-functional unit in the country’s evolving defence landscape.
