Summary:

A PAN card uses the registered mobile number for messages and verification steps. If the number changes, it needs to be updated. The update is done through the PAN correction process. This can be completed either online or offline. Only basic details and documents are required. Updating the mobile number helps ensure that PAN-related messages and checks reach the correct person without delay.

A mobile number linked to a PAN card is used for OTPs and updates. If the number is no longer active, it should be updated. The change can be done online through the PAN correction process.

To change the mobile number on the PAN Card online, select the PAN Correction option on the authorised portal. Enter PAN details, date of birth, and the new mobile number. Verification is completed using an OTP or Aadhaar-based check.

Once the updated mobile number request has been submitted to the PAN Card by an individual, it will be checked by the issuing authority of the PAN Card. After confirmation, the individual will have their new mobile number attached to their account. An acknowledgement of the change will typically be received via SMS or e-mail.

Steps to Change Mobile Number in Pan Card Online?

Changing your mobile number linked to your PAN card can be done easily through online platforms. You do not need to visit any physical centre, provided your identity can be verified electronically. Here are the steps to update your number.

  1. Visit the NSDL or UTIISL portal

You can begin by visiting either of the authorised portals depending on which one originally processed your PAN. Select the "PAN card correction" option.

  2. Choose correction request option

Select the option stating you want to update or correct details in your existing PAN record. Specify that only the mobile number needs to be changed.

  3. Enter PAN and Aadhaar details

You will be asked to provide your existing PAN number and Aadhaar details for identity verification and linking.

  4. Provide the new mobile number

Fill in the new number in the contact section of the form. Ensure accuracy to receive OTPs and alerts.

  5. Verify through OTP and submit

Complete the e-KYC by entering the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-registered number. Submit the form and note the acknowledgment number for tracking.

How To Change Mobile Number In PAN Card Offline?

  • You can obtain a PAN correction format from an official PAN service portal/website or from an authentic PAN service centre. The only format that you can use to update mobile numbers on PAN Card is the update/pan correction form.

  • Complete the update form accurately and select 'Update Mobile Number'. Ensure that you provide correct information when entering the new mobile number again to prevent any errors.

  • Attach copies of the required documents. These usually include PAN proof and identity proof. Self-attest all copies before submission.

  • Submit the filled form and documents at the nearest PAN service centre. Pay the required fee at the counter.

  • The PAN authority checks the request. Once approved, the new mobile number is linked. A confirmation message is shared.

Charges Applicable for Changing Mobile Number on Pan Card

While updating your mobile number may seem like a basic change, there are certain charges applied by the service providers. These charges vary slightly depending on the delivery mode and the location of the applicant.

  1. Standard online application fee

For updates submitted online through NSDL or UTIISL, a fee of approximately ₹50 is charged if the communication address is within India.

  2. Fee for international addresses

If your communication address is outside India, charges can go up to ₹1,000. This includes international postage and processing.

  3. Charges include service tax

The stated fees are inclusive of service tax or GST as applicable under Indian tax regulations.

  4. Payment modes accepted

You can pay via net banking, UPI, debit card, or credit card during the application process.

  5. No additional fee for only mobile update

If mobile number change is the only modification, the fee remains the same as other minor corrections and is not separately itemised.

Documents Needed to Update Mobile Number

  • A copy of the PAN card is required to confirm your PAN details and link the request to the correct record.
  • One valid identity proof must be submitted. This can be Aadhaar, voter ID, passport, or driving licence.
  • Address proof may be required in some cases. Aadhaar, a utility bill, or a bank statement is commonly accepted.
  • The PAN correction form must be filled and signed. The signature should match PAN records to avoid delays or rejection.

Steps to Modify Pan Details Via Utilis Portal

If your PAN was processed through UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIISL), you can use their platform to update your mobile number. The process is simple and guided online.

Open the UTIISL official portal and select the “Change or Correction in PAN” link to initiate the process.

  2. Choose online form submission

Select the option that allows you to submit the form digitally using Aadhaar-based e-KYC.

  3. Fill personal and PAN details

Enter your PAN number, name, and other required identification details.

  4. Update mobile number in contact section

Enter the new mobile number and double-check before submission to ensure you receive all OTPs correctly.

  5. Upload documents and pay charges

Provide any necessary document scans, make the payment, and submit the form. Note the reference number for tracking.

Process to Change Pan Information Using the Nsdl Portal

  •  Go to the NSDL PAN website. Choose the PAN correction option. This option is used when any detail linked to PAN needs to be changed.

  • Enter the PAN number and date of birth. Select the details that need correction, such as mobile number or contact information.

  • To correct these details, simply enter them in the form provided. Upload identity and address proof if asked. Make sure the copies are clear and readable.

  • Complete the verification step. This is usually done using an OTP sent to the linked Aadhaar number.

  • Pay the required fee and submit the form. After checking the request, NSDL updates the PAN record and shares confirmation.
