The Federal Reserve’s FOMC meeting could lead to an interest rate cut, influencing share prices globally. Investors are closely watching upcoming events like US and UK CPI data.
The ongoing FOMC meeting (September 17-18) has captured global attention as investors anticipate the Federal Reserve’s decision on interest rates. With the current rate range between 5.25%-5.50% (23-Year High), the Fed has been expected to introduce a rate cut—either a 25-basis-point or a deeper 50-point reduction. This will be the first-rate adjustment in nearly a year.
Recent U.S. data showed a slight rise in inflation, with the core Consumer Price Index (CPI) increasing by 0.28% in August, slightly above the projected 0.2%. Amid the uncertainty, gold prices hit a record high of $2,589, as investors sought safer assets ahead of the Fed’s decision, potentially affecting global share prices.
Several key global events, including the U.S. Interest Rate decision and EU and UK CPI data, are lined up this week, adding to the market's volatility and the potential impact on share prices.
