    • Indian benchmark indices staged a sharp rebound on Monday, snapping a two-day losing streak, as frontline indices recovered from a weak opening. The Sensex surged over 400 points, while the Nifty reclaimed the psychological 25,000 mark, buoyed by strong buying interest in banking majors like ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank.

    • Nifty opened on a subdued note, hitting an intraday low of 24,882 in the early trades. However, the index witnessed a steady recovery through the session, eventually closing near the day’s high at 25,090.70, up 122 points or 0.49%. the Sensex was up 442 points or 0.54% at 82,200.34.

TRADE SETUP FOR JUL 22

  1. Nifty Short-Term Outlook:

    • On the daily chart, Nifty formed a bullish candlestick with a long lower shadow, reflecting strong buying interest at the lower band of the rising channel.

    • Monday’s session saw demand picking up around this key support area of 24,900. Index to extend the pullback and head towards the 25,200–25,250 zone in the coming sessions — a region marked by the confluence of the 20-day EMA and the previous week's high.

    • However, a decisive breakout above 25,250 would be required to signal a potential end to the recent corrective phase and could unlock further upside towards the 25,500–25,600 levels in the near term.

    • On the downside, a breakdown below 24,900 on a closing basis would indicate an extension of the last three weeks' corrective decline.

  2. Intraday Levels:

    • Nifty: Intraday resistance is at 25,190, followed by 25,250 levels. Conversely, downside support is located at 25,020, followed by 24,950.

    • Bank Nifty: Intraday resistance is positioned at 57,250, followed by 57,500, while downside support is found at 56,750, followed by 56,480.

Derivative Market Analysis

  1. Nifty:

    • Nifty futures ended the session on a positive note, rising 0.38% to close at 25,127.60. FIIs covered 3,061 short contracts and 241 long contracts, resulting in a net positive position of 2,820 contracts. The long-short ratio remains stable at 0.18, indicating an oversold zone where historical patterns suggest potential for a pullback or trend reversal, although confirmation is awaited. Additionally, a 1.4% drop in open interest alongside a price rise indicates short covering.

    • The 25,000 mark holds as a psychological and technical support, with strong put writing observed between 24,900 and 25,100. On the upside, call writing at 25,100 and 25,200 suggests immediate resistance. A move above 25,200 may trigger further short covering, potentially pushing Nifty towards 25,500.

  2. Bank Nifty:

    • Bank Nifty outperformed, gaining 1.00% to close at 56,981.80.

    • A sharp 5.9% decline in OI with rising price suggests aggressive short covering.

    • Heavy call writing at 57,000 signals key resistance, while put writing at 56,000 and unwinding of calls reflect improving sentiment.

US Share Market News

  1. Performance Overview:

    • S&P 500 jumped on Monday, closing above 6,300 for the first time  as investors prepared for a string of key second-quarter earnings in the coming days, with some of Wall Street’s biggest firms set to report. Trump’s tariffs are set to take effect from August 1.

  2. Sector-Specific Index:

    • The S&P 500 rose 0.1% to 6,305.60 points, briefly hitting a record high of 6,336.08 points. The NASDAQ Composite rose 0.4% to 20,974.18 points after hitting a high of 21,076.72 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed flat at 44,323.07 points.
