Asian Markets

  1. General Trends:

India Market Outlook

  1. Market in Previous Session:

    • The Indian stock market declined, breaking a six-day winning streak and erasing the gains of the last three sessions, with the Nifty closing weakly below 24,900.

    • Investors were cautious before the U.S. Fed Chair’s speech at Jackson Hole, which gave clues about money flow and future interest rates. However, robust domestic cues lend support, with PMI touching a record high and proposed indirect tax reliefs likely to spur consumption, highlighting India’s economic resilience.

    • At close, the Sensex was down 693.86 points or 0.85 percent at 81,306.85, and the Nifty was down 213.65 points or 0.85 percent at 24,870.10.

TRADE SETUP FOR AUG 25

  1. Nifty Short-Term Outlook:

    • The index formed a large bearish candle with a lower high and lower low, indicating profit booking from the 61.8% retracement of the recent move (25,669–24,337) after a strong rally.

    • Looking ahead, we expect the index to stay above last Monday’s bullish gap zone (24,631–24,852) and attempt a retest of the immediate resistance at 25,160–25,250 in the upcoming truncated week, which coincides with key retracement levels and the previous swing high.

    • On the downside, short-term support is revised higher to 24,600–24,400, which aligns with the 100-day EMA and last Monday’s gap area.

  2. Intraday Levels:

    • Nifty: Intraday resistance is at 25,000, followed by 25,120 levels. Conversely, downside support is located at 24,840, followed by 24,700.

    • Bank Nifty: Intraday resistance is positioned at 55,510, followed by 55,700, while downside support is found at 55,000, followed by 54,800.

Derivative Market Analysis

  1. Nifty:

    • Call writers are currently dominant with the heaviest positions at the 25,000 and 26,000 strikes, while put writers are concentrated at 24,500 and 25,000. This makes 25,000 a pivotal level heading into the monthly expiry.

    • On the technical front, 24,850 remains a crucial support; a breakdown below this could drag the index towards 24,673, filling the gap created on 18th August.

    • Notably, open interest has gradually declined from 246,711 contracts on 8th August to 235,865 contracts as of 22nd August, reflecting a lack of conviction in the recent uptrend.

    • Put call ratio now stands at 0.73.

  2. Bank Nifty:

    • Bank Nifty mirrors a similar setup with maximum call and put writing concentrated at 57,000, which has served as the expiry pivot throughout the month. Layers of resistance are visible at 55,500, 56,000, 56,500, and 57,000 due to aggressive call writing, while immediate support is seen at 55,000 through put writing.

    • However, the recent 9.3% rise in open interest accompanied by a sharp price decline signals short build-up. Technically, 55,000 remains a crucial support, and if breached, the index could slip towards 53,900.

    • Put call ratio now stands at 0.59

US Share Market News
