In a lackluster yet positive session on July 4, Indian benchmark indices ended with modest gains, supported by broad-based buying across most sectors—except metals. The market opened on a weak note but quickly recovered as heavyweight counters led a rebound, helping the indices close near the day’s high.

The Nifty closed around 25,450 mark, settling at 25,461. The Sensex advanced by 193 points, or 0.23%, to finish at 83,432.89, while the Nifty gained 55.7 points, or 0.22%.

Despite today’s uptick, both the Sensex and Nifty logged a weekly decline of 0.7% each, indicating caution in the broader market.

Key Focus: US–India Trade Deal

With the tariff deadline nearing, investor attention has shifted toward the anticipated United States–India trade deal. A favorable resolution is widely expected and could serve as a key catalyst for the next phase of the market rally.

Sectoral Performance

On the sectoral front, barring auto, telecom, and metal, all other indices ended in the green.

Banking, Pharma, Oil & Gas, Information Technology, Realty, and Media were among the notable gainers, posting gains in the range of 0.4% to 1%.

However, broader markets underperformed, closing the session flat and muted compared to frontline indices.
