Global Market Overview

Global markets remained under pressure as US equities declined on the first trading day of September amid trade policy uncertainty, rising yields, and weak sentiment following tariff-related legal rulings. Bond yields stayed mixed, while gold and silver gained, crude prices remained subdued, and the dollar index held steady.

Asian markets mirrored Wall Street’s weakness, with most indices edging lower. Gift Nifty hinted at a flat-to-negative start for Indian equities.

Indian Market Performance

Despite supportive macro data, profit booking dragged Indian indices lower in the previous session. The Nifty formed a bearish candle near key EMAs, signaling short-term consolidation within the 24,400–24,800 range. Intraday levels suggest cautious trading, with resistance around 24,800 and support near 24,400, while Bank Nifty hovers around the critical 54,000 zone.

Market Recap (Previous Session)

Sensex: 80,157.88 (–206 pts, –0.26%)

Nifty: 24,579.60 (–45.45 pts, –0.18%)

The midcap index managed to close in positive territory, highlighting relative outperformance. Sector-wise, FMCG, metals, PSU banks, and realty cushioned the downside, offsetting weakness in autos, pharma, and IT. Banking stocks remained the key laggards.
