    On 18th September, Indian markets advanced with Nifty above 25,400 and Sensex up 320 points. The Fed announced a 25 bps rate cut. Pharma outperformed, while Eternal gained 2.9% and Coal India slipped 1.7%, reflecting mixed stock momentum.

    Indian benchmark indices extended gains on 18th September, with the Nifty holding firmly above the 25,400 mark.

    The United States Federal Reserve delivered its first rate cut since December 2024, trimming the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to the 4%–4.25% range.

    • The move was largely priced in by markets.

    • It reflects a cooling labor market and lingering inflation.

    • Importantly, this marks the first rate cut of President Trump’s second term.

    Looking ahead, policymakers signaled:

    • Two more cuts this year, totaling 50 basis points.

    • One cut in 2026 and another in 2027.

    • Eternal was one of the top performers, gaining 2.92%.

    • Coal India saw the biggest decline, losing 1.69%.
