BoAt Gets SEBI Nod for ₹13,000 IPO; Here Are the Key Details

BoAt IPO News Today

As quoted by the Financial Express on 3rd September, BoAt got SEBI nod for their IPO, BoAt has long been a household name for affordable headphones and wearables. Now, its parent Imagine Marketing is preparing to sail into Dalal Street after securing SEBI approval. This marks a comeback after shelving its earlier 2022 attempt.

The IPO aims for a ₹13,000 crore valuation. Tentative numbers are here: a ₹900 crore fresh issue alongside a ₹1,100 crore offer-for-sale.

Interestingly, BoAt has chosen SEBI’s confidential pre-filing route. This method gives issuers flexibility—eighteen months to list instead of the traditional twelve.

As per the management they are going to use the money for debt repayment then they will proceed with investing in research, product development and upgrades and the last objective is general corporate needs.

Boat was founded in 2013 by Aman Gupta and Sameer Mehta, over the period of time they built their market share by targeting the youth of India. By Q2 2024, it controlled 26.7% of the country’s wearables market. That kind of market share is not trivial.

ICICI Securities, Goldman Sachs, and Nomura are acting as book-running lead managers for the IPO. The details of valuation, proceeds use, and timelines are based on the current filings. Investors may note that margins in consumer electronics remain sensitive to costs and competition.
