What is a limit order and when should I use it?

A limit order definition is an order to buy or sell a stock at a fixed price. It's one of the types of stock orders. When you want to buy a stock at a lower price, use a buy limit order. When you want to sell a stock at a higher price, use a sell limit order.

Limit orders help you control the price you pay or receive for a stock.
