As quoted in the press release by Eternal Ltd. (NSE Exchange Fillings), this food delivery and quick commerce company has raised its platform fee on Zomato orders from ₹10 to ₹12, which is a 20% increase. If you are a frequent Zomato user, then your cost will now have a marginal increased fee on every food delivery order; this change comes less than a year after its last increase.
The platform fee was made available from August 2023 for ₹2 and was increased a couple of times to enable margin and profitability. Over the months, the platform fee has been amended on a basis that reflects seasonality, operating costs, and demand cycles. As a consumer, you might remember last year's festive season adjustment that was only temporarily raised to ₹10.

For Q1FY25, Eternal Ltd's net profit was ₹25 crore compared to ₹253 crore in the previous year. You can see clearly the regulatory investments it is making in its quick commerce and going-out business is affecting overall profitability but at the same time revenue from operations has sharply increased to ₹7,167 crore from ₹4,206 crore last year.
What is evident from your consumer standpoint is the shift in demand. For the first time ever, Eternal's quick commerce net order value, surpassed that of its food ordering business, highlighting the shifting consumer habits towards more reliance on quick delivery services like Blinkit, not only for food ordering but also for everyday essentials.

The company also completed acquisitions of two event businesses, Orbgen Technologies Pvt Ltd and Wasteland Entertainment Pvt Ltd, in August 2024. These acquisitions included movie ticketing and events businesses formerly owned by One 97 Communications Ltd, the parent company of Paytm. Comparisons from year to year will not be as simple because of the acquisitions.
The share price of Eternal Ltd. finished at ₹322.85 on the BSE on September 2, 2025, at 15:30 PM IST.
